Сгорел вентилятор на процессоре (в принципе единственный) на ноутбуке несколько дней назад. Новый ожидается на следующей недели с ebay.com.

My notebook was broken a few days ago due to a cpu fan misfunction. A new one should be arriving next week from ebay.com.

Go to bookstore and buy «English grammar in use» by Murphy. It is a very good book, available for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

IMHO both terms can be used interchangeably. Indeed, the term «notebook» can refer to a few different things, while «laptop» is less blurred. But in this very case we have a context — «cpu fan» — so it's clear that «notebook» means a mobile computer.
